Fourteen Ghent University PhD candidates took part in this first edition of the contest. The researchers posted their threads between 1 September and 15 October. These maps are also viewable in atlas format on this site: They start at Season 1 and will cover the first episodes of Season 8.In the #ThesisThread competition Flemish universities challenge their PhD candidates to explain their doctoral research in a Twitter thread. The maps below cover the changing fortunes of the different factions in the world of Game of Thrones at the beginning of each season, using the conventions established in the regular Omniatlas maps.
